<p><strong>About the Job:</strong><br />
Microfinance International Corporation (MFIC) is seeking a Business Analyst Intern who will be involved in managing day-to-day operations for an innovative project targeted to low-income communities involving a multipurpose pre-paid card with international remittance, calling card and international top-up functionalities. The intern will gain valuable experience in managing and implementing at a retail level through the prepaid cards, monitoring and controlling product/personnel performance and helping develop new product lines. The position is expected to involve approximately 20 hours per week (part-time). The internship offers an opportunity to gain concentrated international business experience in offering innovative financial solutions, make contributions in a fast growing and entrepreneurial company environment, and work alongside seasoned professionals in financial services and regulatory compliance.</p>
<p><strong>Tasks and Responsibilities:</strong></p>

<li>Be involved in managing day-to-day operations for the project;</li>

The brand advisor will work with VisionFund&#8217;s global marketing and fund-raising director, marketing manager, and communications director to develop, review, manage, facilitate, advise, and implement the brand and re-branding of affiliated micro-finance institutions within the VisionFund network.</p>
<p><strong>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong></p>

<li>Collaborate with various departments and entities to ensure brand integrity and one clear voice;</li>
<li>Work with and manage vendor partners and communication agencies, and all aspects of their projects;</li>
<li>Ensure that the brand remains intact and unchanged in context of many different needs and environments that will require unique responses;</li>
<li>Educate staff and leadership on the brand;</li>
<li>Advise and provide leadership in the development of micro-finance institution marketing plans when and where needed;</li>
<li>Work with the marketing manager to assess and evaluate current branding needs at network level, and develop a strategy to implement the brand in a stepped process;</li>
<li>Interview MFI leadership and create custom branding time line and strategy to fit and align with MFI and VFI goals and timing;</li>
<li>Work with WVI legal department to update, assess, and create implementation process to ensure proper licensing and trademarking of brand in country;</li>
<li>Assess collateral and signage needs at the MFI level and work with marketing manager to develop full suite of products to support the MFI within reasonable expectations and fiscal limitations;</li>
<li>Evaluate physical signage and real estate needs at the MFI level, and provide an assessment and recommendation as to how the MFI can best re-brand its image within context of its physical space;</li>
<li>Evaluate messaging at the MFI level, and work with MFI staff and the communications director to provide final messaging that lies within the network context, while meeting local objectives and needs;</li>
<li>Assess MFI&#8217;s current marketing strategy and plan, and provide feedback, insights, leadership, and plan implementation so MFI can develop and execute a marketing plan in alignment with set goals and objectives. If marketing plan does not exist, work with the MFI to develop one.</li>

<p><strong>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS &amp; ABILITIES:</strong></p>

<p><strong>Position Summary</strong><br />
The Director, Development and Communications is responsible for increasing the visibility of Freedom from Hunger through strategic fundraising, marketing and communication initiatives.  Working closely with the President and the Leadership Team, the Director will develop and implement integrated fundraising strategies, leading identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship for individual giving.  Managing a team of five, the position develops and directs communication and marketing through websites, social media, email, direct mail, speaking engagements, publications and mass media, consistently enhancing brand recognition, professional reputation and donor response.<br />
This position reports to the President and works full-time from the International Center in Davis, CA.</p>
<p><strong>Core Duties and Responsibilities</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Produce and implement a strategic and sustainable individual fund development program; establish goals, benchmarks and metrics for evaluation of fundraising procedures;</li>
<li>Implement and manage the annual communications plan, integrating websites, social media, email,  direct mail, speaking engagements, publications and mass media;</li>
<li>Amplify the visibility and influence of Freedom from Hunger’s achievements through a new website; increase online fundraising and information dissemination with up-to-date information in an audience-centric approach;</li>
<li>Ensure that the External Affairs department has a strong fundraising and marketing infrastructure, and that its staff is knowledgeable, enthusiastic and effective, providing leadership and consistent feedback to team members; support staff will include two in communications/marketing, two in fundraising, and one administrative assistant;</li>
<li>Direct, coordinate and execute all private fundraising activities, including individual donor solicitations, holding special fundraising events, and fostering strong, long-term relationships with donor constituencies;</li>
<li>Partner with the President and Board of Trustees to manage their role in cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major donors;</li>
<li>Conceive of and implement all aspects of Freedom from Hunger’s digital and social networking strategies, including producing cross-channel content, managing online engagement and tracking resulting offline action;</li>
<li>Conduct ongoing research to explore the characteristics, assumptions and preferences of current and potential audiences for Freedom from Hunger communication;</li>
<li>Direct, coordinate, produce and disseminate information on Freedom from Hunger and its programs, including developing materials that tell the clients’ stories and program successes to internal constituents, general public, media, and individual and institutional donors worldwide;</li>
<li>Design and write marketing collateral and communication pieces for websites, social media, email, and direct mail, as well as for major donors, institutional grant makers, technical conferences and mass media;</li>
<li>Seek out and respond to media requests for information, interviews and public appearances and to marketing opportunities to enhance our brand recognition and reputation;</li>
<li>Work closely with Leadership Team providing guidance on setting policy, initiatives and plans to guide the work of the organization;</li>
<li>Manage consultants to ensure the timeliness and relevance of their projects;</li>
<li>Prepare and manage annual department budget.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Prior Experience</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Seven to ten years professional experience in the non-profit development field, with a history of progressive leadership and successful fund development;</li>
<li>Minimum five years professional experience in strategic planning, brand marketing, communication strategies, and/or business development;</li>
<li>Bachelor’s degree or higher;</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to think strategically while executing tactically;</li>
<li>Exemplary written and verbal communication skills;</li>
<li>Ability to gather, synthesize and present information in a professional, practical and compelling manner;</li>
<li>Demonstrated presentation skills with ability to speak to a variety of audiences, including potential donors, current donors, foundations, the public and professional peer organizations;</li>
<li>Strong staff management experience, with the ability to lead, mentor and supervise;</li>
<li>Attention to detail, strong execution skills and ability to organize multiple projects and priorities;</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability and experience orchestrating social media and email marketing campaigns;</li>

Microcredit Summit Campaign (MCS) brings together microfinance practitioners, advocates, educational institutions, donor agencies, international financial institutions, NGOs and others involved with microcredit to promote best practices in the field, to stimulate the interchanging of knowledge, and to work towards reaching their goals. In 2005, the organization successfully completed a nine-year campaign, having reached nearly 100 million of the world&#8217;s poorest families. The Campaign is now focused on two pressing goals for the period 2006-2015: working to ensure that 175 million of the world&#8217;s poorest families, especially the women of those families, are receiving credit for self-employment and other financial and business services by the end of 2015 as well as 100 million families rise above the US$1 a day threshold adjusted for purchasing power parity (PPP), between 1990 and 2015.</p>
<p><strong>Tasks and Responsibilities:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Communicating with member institutions in Asia, Africa, and Latin America to encourage action plan submission, answer questions, and clarify data;</li>
<li>Researching areas for growth and targeting potential new member institutions;</li>
<li>Reviewing MFI portfolio data on an ongoing basis and aggregating results;</li>
<li>Supporting outreach and promotional strategies on social media platforms (i.e., Facebook, Linked-In, Twitter, and our blog) as well as with major print and non-print media outlets in the US and internationally;</li>
<li>Gathering and compiling materials for report-related informational and promotional use (e.g., photos for cover and website);</li>
<li>Other office administrative support and special projects as needed.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Candidates should be able to commit a minimum of 24 hours per week for a minimum of five (5) months. Preference will be given to those who can commit to 35-40 hours per week for six (6) months. Duration: January 3 through June 30, 2012.</li>
<li>Proficient spoken and written English and Spanish and/or French required. Arabic and Portuguese are also useful.</li>

<p><strong>Duties and Accountabilities:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>The Operations Officers will work as part of the Africa retail financial services team, reporting in to a Program Manager for the MasterCard Foundation Program. The operations officers will be responsible for the development of projects with potential clients, in partnership with senior specialists in the areas of microfinance and mobile financial services. The positions will be based in Johannesburg, Dakar or Nairobi. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: Identifying, developing and managing advisory services relationships with clients, in coordination with senior specialists and client relationship managers on the investment side.</li>
<li>Conducting technical assistance appraisals in close cooperation with investment teams and relevant product specialists, and design projects for clients. Making proposals to clients to gain support and financial commitment. Managing client contracting process.</li>
<li>Identifying and mobilizing appropriate consultants for advisory assignments (internal or external to IFC), including drafting terms of reference, taking part in the evaluation and selection of proposals and consultant contracting.</li>
<li>Monitoring the progress and impact of projects through regular project monitoring/reporting and evaluation of consultant and project performance. Addressing problems with consultants or clients if they arise.</li>
<li>Internal processing advisory services projects, including drafting of appraisal reports, client proposals, project budgets, internal approval documentation, supervision reporting and consultant terms of reference and legal documents.</li>
<li>Working closely with the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&amp;E) team to develop indicators and tools that collect the necessary data for evaluating the impact of the projects.</li>
<li>Working with donor relations team to mobilize additional sources of funding for A2F activities and prepare donor reports, including drafting and review of proposal documents and budgets;</li>

<p><strong>Selection Criteria:</strong></p>

<li>Ideal candidates will have: An advanced university degree in Business, Economics, International Development or related fields.</li>

<p><strong>About the Role:</strong><br />
SVMN is looking for an experienced volunteer Videographer to film a series of exciting and educational speaker panels on various topics relating to microfinance and poverty alleviation. These panel discussions will take place once per month in December, then January through May, 2012.</p>
<p>The SVMN Speaker Series primarily takes place in downtown San Francisco, on week day evenings, and last 1 hour, between the hours of 5:00pm to 8:00pm.</p>
<p>The Videographer must have their own equipment, including camera, sound equipment, laptop and video editing software.</p>
<p><strong>Key Requirements:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Preferably a seasoned videographer, but open to college students and recent graduates with skills in filming/videography/editing.</li>
<li>Must be comfortable working with a non-profit.</li>
<li>Videographer must be available to arrive early to each SVMN event, and complete the editing process (if applicable) within 48 hours following the event. All videos will be posted online, with credit assigned to the Videographer. Events take place in downtown San Francisco, on the UC Berkeley campus, on the Peninsula, and occasionally in San Jose.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Compensation</strong><br />
In addition to optional quarterly happy hours for our Volunteers and free attendance to all SVMN programs, the Videographer will receive $100 per event for all filming services. SVMN is looking for a reliable videographer for a minimum of 5 events.</p>

IFC &amp; Microfinance: Financial inclusion encompasses the range, quality and availability of financial services to the underserved and the financially excluded. Some 3 billion adults â€“ almost 70 percent of the population in developing countries â€“ have little or no access to formal financial services . IFC s financial inclusion efforts focus not only on the financially excluded but also on the underserved micro-and small enterprises amd low-income populations in developing countries . Formal financial services such as savings, loans, and money transfers enable poor families to invest in enterprises and improve their nutrition, living conditions , and the health and education of their children. IFC is leading global investors in terms of volume. In FY11, IFC committed US$382 million in 42 projects with financial institutions . Also, as of June 2011, IFC had a committed microfinance portfolio of US$1.2 billion. And an additional US$55.1 million in grant funding, representing 67 projects. IFC Microfinance Advisory Services The Access to Finance Advisory Services Department (A2F), under the Vice Presidency of Business Advisory Services, is a joint World Bank/IFC group that caters to both policy and project related advisory work on financial markets, financial institutions and financial infrastructure. A2F Global Microfinance Advisory Product supports the implementation of IFC s microfinance strategy across IFC s regional programs by providing technical expertise in the design of Microfinance Advisory interventions; facilitates cross-learning and the sharing of best practice approaches through knowledge management platforms; and supports innovation of new products in collaboration with other Product Lines, including Retail Payments, SME Banking, Leasing, Agrifinance &amp; Insurance. <p><strong>Duties and Accountabilities:</strong><br />
IFC is seeking to recruit a highly-motivated Senior Microfinance Specialist, with extensive hands on experience in designing and managing commercially-oriented microfinance operations globally and ideally a prior experience as a provider of microfinance and/or financial services consultant. He/ She will be part of a global team responsible for asserting IFC s position as a knowledge leader in Microfinance, promoting and supporting IFC s Microfinance programs and contributing to the design and implementation of knowledge management tools and standards. He/she will actively participate in the dissemination of best practices in Microfinance globally. The Senior Microfinance Specialist will be based in Washington, DC and will be part of the Access To Finance Retail and Micro group. He/she will report to the Global Product Leader for Microfinance. Specific tasks/responsibilities include:</p>

<li>Global Microfinance Advisory Program: Provide technical expertise in the design of the implementation strategy for the Program s activities. This will include conducting detailed appraisals/ evaluations of microfinance projects operations, preparing technical reports which include recommendations for internal and client use, identifying and selecting short-term consultants/ firms and reviewing the deliverables of third parties, supporting the implementation of projects to ensure overall quality control in line with corporate monitoring and evaluation requirements.</li>
<li>Product Development : in collaboration with other specialists, including Retail Payments, SME Banking, Leasing, Agrifinance, Housing &amp; Insurance, design sound approaches for the diversification of financial services for the micro client segment.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Selection Criteria:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>MBA or equivalent and senior operational experience in both developed and emerging markets , with at least 10 years in managing commercially oriented financial services for microenterprises, small business and low-income populations.</li>
<li>Experience in designing country- and region-wide microfinance advisory programs in emerging markets .</li>
<li>Internationally recognized leadership in the banking, consulting or development finance community particularly in the field of microfinance and SME banking.</li>
<li>Technical expertise in microfinance tools, products and methodologies in developing countries , including conflict affected regions. ,</li>
<li>Strong familiarity with international best market practices and global trends in the microfinance sector, with specific expertise in Retail Payments/Mobile Banking, microsaving, microinsurance and/or microhousing.</li>
<li>Willingness and ability to travel extensively.</li>
<li>Experience in due diligence exercises for investments in emerging markets banks.</li>
<li>Fluent English, spoken and written; French, Spanish and/or Arabic desirable.</li>
<li>A keen interest in development finance and in working in a multicultural environment.</li>
<li>Strong client relationship management skills and ability to establish strong credibility among senior clients.</li>
